Islam teaches that evolution does exist (according to some scholars...some may say it doesnt), there is a verse in the Qu'ran that states that first there was water and then from teh water came life to the earth, and grew from that...I can't find the verse right now, but I have read it before.

However, as far as Man goes, Islam teaches that man did not come from another animal, but from clay (symbolically meaning that Allah created Man from the earth)...

So, in my opinion, religion and evolution go together.

i am talking about how muslims and christians and most of the religions believe that there was just adam and eve.. who were simply created by god.. and didnt evolve from apes..

go find out then... ask ur mommie >=/

newaiz, in school we were thought about darwin and suvival of fittest and all that crap... so it was kinda hard for me to not believe how evolution could exist because thats contrary to what the quran says but then i read some stuff about how god made 3 forms of human and 1 form in heaven which would b adam.. nd then that just got me more confused..

but i dont kno i jus came across this site recently that talked about how there should be "intermedite fossils" if evolution did exist.. thats basically saying when fish evolved into amphibian during that process there should of been million of half-fish, half-amphibian creatures since we all know evolution is a slow process which takes millions of years.. and just liek that there should been millions of fossils of reptile-birds lying around but we havent been able to find any.. so how can evolution exist.. imean its tru we have same characteristics of apes or they have same characteristics as us.. depending on how u look at it but that doesnt necessarily mean we evolved from them..

Hinduism, places its emphasis on the mental and spiritual evolution of life on earth. It speaks of evolution of the beings from a state of ignorance to a state of illumination through progressive and successive intermediate states of partial ignorance and partial illumination. It alludes to a process that proceeds in three primary stages.

the whole thing was too long to copy n paste, but thank you internet.

okay, here, http://islam.about.com/od/creation/a/creation_2.htm

I know it's about.com but they actually have a crapload of good material on there, and simplified in layman's so anyone can understand it. Usually when you try to see what scholars think or whatever, they just have a convuluted mess of words that don't make much sense...

life coming from water or adam being created from clay doesnt show evolution.. thats just miracle of allah.. evolution would b being born with no sight nd jus bumpin into tress genereations after generations nd then developing sight..

the thing i read it stated that adam was created in 3 stages which showed evolution since it mention that 1st he did not have a concious then havin 1 , then being given sexual reproductive system and i forget the 3rd thing lol.. but then again that shows him improving through the 3 steps but it doesnt show evolution since evolution is supposed to b gradual and take millions of yrs..

anyways the link you gave me that didnt show much that evolution does exist or islam says so.. how does being made from clay show evolution or from water.. none of them is alive (water or clay) , if quran said adam was made from a bird then i had b like okay so we evolved from birds u kno.. but it says water so we evolved from water ? lol .. newaiz nd if evolution is tru then what about the intermediate evolved forms.. where r the fossils to show that..

you read it too literally. If life comes from water, that means that the life we have today came from life that developed in the water. It's showing that it progressed from being marine animals to land animals...see what i mean?

And the whole clay thing, whether it being earth or not, is a moot point. Man was created in God's image, without evolution.
